🦶What is Acetyl L- Carnitine? We review carnitine benefits, side effects, supplements, weight loss and more!🦶

Acetyl L-Carnitine, also known as ALCAR, is a naturally occurring amino acid that is important for energy production in the body. It is a form of L-Carnitine that is more easily absorbed by the body and is able to cross the blood-brain barrier, making it an effective supplement for brain health.

Here are some of the benefits of Acetyl L-Carnitine:

Brain function: Acetyl L-Carnitine has been shown to improve cognitive function and memory, and may also help to reduce the risk of age-related cognitive decline.

Energy production: Acetyl L-Carnitine plays a role in the production of energy in the body by helping to transport fatty acids into the mitochondria, where they can be converted into ATP (adenosine triphosphate).

Mood support: Acetyl L-Carnitine has been shown to have a positive effect on mood and may help to reduce symptoms of depression.

Antioxidant properties: Acetyl L-Carnitine has antioxidant properties, which can help to protect the body from damage caused by free radicals.

Athletic performance: Acetyl L-Carnitine has been shown to improve exercise performance and may also help to reduce muscle damage and fatigue.

Weight Loss: Some studies have suggested that Acetyl L-Carnitine may help to increase fat burning and reduce body weight, other studies have found no significant effects on weight loss or body composition.

Acetyl L-Carnitine is found naturally in small amounts in red meat and dairy products, but it can also be taken as a dietary supplement. It is generally considered safe for most people when taken at recommended doses, but excessive intake can lead to negative side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. As with any supplement, it is best to consult with a healthcare provider before starting to take Acetyl L-Carnitine.

Acetyl L-Carnitine is generally considered safe for most people when taken at recommended doses, but excessive intake can lead to negative side effects. Here are some of the possible side effects of Acetyl L-Carnitine:

Gastrointestinal discomfort: Some people may experience nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea when taking Acetyl L-Carnitine supplements.

Insomnia: Acetyl L-Carnitine supplements may cause difficulty falling or staying asleep in some people.

Headache: Some people may experience headaches as a side effect of Acetyl L-Carnitine supplementation.

Restlessness: Acetyl L-Carnitine may cause restlessness or jitteriness in some people.

Fishy body odor: Acetyl L-Carnitine supplements may cause a fishy body odor in some people.

We review the best omega-3 fatty acids benefits, fish oils, krill oils, dosage, the big secrets, the big scams, and the BEST foods to eat!

Omega-3 fish oil is a type of polyunsaturated fatty acid that is found in oily fish such as salmon, mackerel, and sardines. It is a popular dietary supplement that is often used to support heart health, brain function, and overall wellness.

Omega-3 fatty acids are essential nutrients that cannot be synthesized by the body and must be obtained through diet or supplements. The two main types of omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). EPA and DHA have been shown to have numerous health benefits, including reducing inflammation, lowering blood triglycerides, improving brain function, and reducing the risk of heart disease.

Research suggests that consuming omega-3 fish oil supplements may help to reduce inflammation in the body, which can contribute to chronic diseases such as heart disease, arthritis, and cancer. Omega-3 fish oil has also been shown to have a positive impact on cognitive function, memory, and mood.

While consuming fish oil supplements can be beneficial for some individuals, it is important to note that excessive consumption can also have negative effects. High doses of omega-3 fatty acids can lead to bleeding, and fish oil supplements can interact with certain medications, so it is important to speak with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement regimen.

The recommended daily intake of omega-3 fatty acids varies depending on age, sex, and overall health. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the recommended daily intake of omega-3 fatty acids for adults is 1.6 grams for men and 1.1 grams for women.

However, some studies suggest that higher doses of omega-3 fatty acids may be necessary to achieve certain health benefits, such as reducing inflammation or improving brain function.

🦶Prebiotics and probiotics are essential in maintaining a healthy gut microbiome, but they serve different functions.🦶

Chapters:
0:00 Prebiotics vs. Probiotics
0:12 Prebiotic Foods
0:41 Prebiotic foods and probiotic foods

Prebiotics are non-digestible fibers or compounds found in certain plant-based foods that serve as food for the beneficial bacteria in your gut. These fibers pass through the digestive system mostly undigested and are then fermented by gut bacteria, promoting the growth and activity of these beneficial microorganisms. Prebiotics can help improve gut health, enhance immune function, and support overall well-being.

A study published in the British Journal of Nutrition found that consuming prebiotic fibers can lead to an increase in beneficial bacteria, particularly Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli, and a reduction in harmful bacteria (Kolida & Gibson, 2007). Another study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed that prebiotic supplementation could improve immune function and reduce the risk of gastrointestinal infections (Lomax & Calder, 2009).

Some common prebiotic-rich foods include:
Chicory root
Jerusalem artichoke
Garlic
Onions
Leeks
Asparagus
Bananas
Barley
Oats
Probiotics, on the other hand, are live beneficial bacteria that can be found in certain fermented foods or taken as supplements. Probiotics can help maintain the balance of the gut microbiome, improve digestion, and support immune function. They can also help prevent or alleviate gastrointestinal conditions, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and antibiotic-associated diarrhea.

A study published in the journal Gastroenterology found that probiotic supplementation can improve symptoms of IBS, such as bloating, abdominal pain, and irregular bowel movements (Moayyedi et al., 2010). Another study in the journal Nutrients demonstrated that probiotics could help prevent antibiotic-associated diarrhea and Clostridium difficile infections in adults and children (Hempel et al., 2012).

Some common probiotic-rich foods include:

Yogurt
Kefir
Sauerkraut
Kimchi
Miso
Tempeh
Kombucha
Pickles (fermented in brine, not vinegar)
In summary, prebiotics and probiotics contribute to a healthy gut microbiome and overall well-being. Prebiotics serve as food for beneficial bacteria, while probiotics are beneficial bacteria. Including both prebiotic-rich and probiotic-rich foods in your diet can help support gut health, immune function, and general well-being.

🦶Lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids that can help with eyes and eye problems! We review the best carotenoid foods,🦶

Chapters:
0:00 What is Zeaxanthin & Lutein
0:16 Best Food for Eyes
0:30 Cataracts & Macular degeneration

Lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids, which are natural pigments found in plants. These two carotenoids are vital for maintaining good eye health, as they have antioxidant properties that help protect the eyes from harmful blue light and oxidative damage. Lutein and zeaxanthin are concentrated in the macula, the central part of the retina responsible for high-resolution vision. Consuming foods rich in lutein and zeaxanthin can help reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataracts, two common eye conditions that can lead to vision loss, especially in older adults.

Several studies have demonstrated the benefits of lutein and zeaxanthin for eye health. For instance, the Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS2) found that supplementing with lutein and zeaxanthin, combined with other essential nutrients, can reduce the risk of AMD progression by 25-30% (Age-Related Eye Disease Study 2 Research Group, 2013). Another study published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology showed that a higher dietary intake of lutein and zeaxanthin is associated with a lower risk of cataract surgery (Liu et al., 2014).

To incorporate lutein and zeaxanthin into your diet, include the following foods:

Leafy green vegetables: Kale, spinach, Swiss chard, and collard greens are excellent sources of lutein and zeaxanthin.
Cruciferous vegetables: Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and cauliflower contain moderate amounts of lutein and zeaxanthin.
Corn: Yellow corn is a good source of lutein and zeaxanthin, with the nutrients concentrated in the corn’s yellow pigment.
Egg yolks: Egg yolks are rich in lutein and zeaxanthin, and the fat content in the yolk helps with the absorption of these carotenoids.
Orange and yellow fruits and vegetables: Orange bell peppers, oranges, mangoes, and papayas also contain lutein and zeaxanthin, albeit in smaller amounts than leafy greens.
By consuming a balanced diet rich in these foods, you can get enough lutein and zeaxanthin to support your eye health.
